How Long Does Custom Packaging Production Take?

Planning a custom packaging order? Understanding each production stage helps you set a realistic launch date, avoid delays and choose the right timeline for cartons, corrugated boxes and rigid gift boxes.
Most custom packaging orders take approximately 7–20 working days to produce. The exact lead time depends on the box type, order quantity, materials, printing, finishing processes and insert design.
A simple folding carton may be completed relatively quickly, while a rigid gift box with magnets, foil stamping or a custom insert usually requires more production time.
1. Artwork and Structure Confirmation
This stage normally takes 1–3 days. Before sampling, we confirm the box dimensions, structure, materials, artwork, colours and finishing requirements. Providing complete product dimensions and design files helps the project move into production faster.

2. Sample Production
Sample production usually takes 3–7 days. A digital sample with a simple structure may take around three days. Samples using special paper, foil stamping, embossing, UV printing or custom inserts may require five to seven days.
3. Mass Production
Folding cartons and card boxes7–10 working days
Corrugated boxes and mailer boxes7–12 working days
Rigid gift boxes and magnetic boxes10–15 working days
Complex packaging with custom inserts or finishes15–20 working days
Large quantities, special materials and peak production periods may affect the final schedule.

4. Urgent Orders Receive Priority
If your packaging is needed for a product launch, exhibition or urgent restocking, HKY PACKAGE can provide free expedited production and priority scheduling for eligible projects.
After confirming the quantity, structure and material availability, we will prioritize sampling and production without charging an additional rush fee. Some urgent orders can be completed within 3–5 days.
5. Shipping Time
Production time does not include international shipping. Express delivery usually takes 3–7 days, air freight takes approximately 7–12 days, and sea freight normally takes 20–45 days, depending on the destination.
